Mourning for tornado victims in the South

All told, at least 342 people died across seven states, including 250 in Alabama. Thousands more were injured.  As most of you know, my family is from central Alabama.  This has been a very stressful ordeal for all of us.  Thank you for your continued well wishes and support.

Japan

For a while now, I have felt the need to write something to you, my readers, about Japan.  I am very fond of the place and feel terrible seeing what has happened since the earthquake, aftershocks, and tsunami happened.  My friends in the others areas of the country have not been directly impacted but they tell me there are energy reductions in northern cities, and the major cities are still functioning, however there is a lot af reassessing being done.  Tokyo the temple of light, energy and power is now something different.

It’s unsettling to see that a place can be brought to its knees so quickly, even before the troubles with radiation.   Having lived through an earthquake or two, I understand on a micro level how it must feel to have witnessed such devastation by mother nature and so many lingering questions… why so many had to die.  I think a lot about these people and how they will gain the strength and energy to rebuild and move forward.  I hope that the Japanese people I have met over the years are not losing hope.  I know they are a strong culture and they will do whatever it takes to make forward progress.  They’ve done it before, and they will do so again.

I hope that this will be an inspiration to us all.
